"The Gruen Precision is a nice elegant watch with a movement that may not be seen as modern. Nonetheless, it offers an innovative style that is simply spectacular."

This time we are presenting a very UNIQUE and RARE timepiece, it is a Gruen Precision Alarm reference 910SS dated from 1950's. It is a manual wind watch fitted with a Langendorf movement caliber 1244 - 17 jewels, which is controlled entirely by a single crown and featured an open aperture at 12 displaying red if the alarm is set or white when the alarm is off.

The movement contains two separate barrels for the watch and alarm. The alarm barrel is wound by turning the crown clockwise (toward 12:00) and the mainspring barrel is wound by turning the crown counter-clockwise (toward 6:00). It has two separate setting positions for the alarm hand and time.

For sure, this watch very special and represents an advance in mechanical alarm technology.

It is a 35mm solid round case with fancy fat lugs design, snap-back, all in stainless steel. After 65 years, it still looks preserved in time, it has the original and stunning white dial with art deco Arabic Numerals and "torch" indices, luminous hands. Original black arrow alarm indicator hand and sweep second hand. The dial is signed with the Gruen name, "Precision" "Alarm" also SWITZERLAND at the bottom of the dial.

The domed acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. This watch is coming a NOS black alligator Genuine Leather strap.

This watch is in lovely condition!

Due to the movement complication we used a third party to service the watch with a cost of $300. So, it is cleaned and serviced. Runs very well and keeps great time.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men's watches typically measure between 29-36mm (some larger, some smaller) wide excluding the crown. We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust light, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
